For once she was listening to her old man, who had called her with some new guy's information and said she should get in touch with them. They were supposed to be named Kin Baird or some such and she had a vague picture of him slightly blurred on her phone due to her father's shit use of technology. Sighing to herself as she put the cell away she looked around and wondered how on earth she was supposed to find a shinigami she didn't even know existed until just recently.

However her red eyes betrayed her own bewilderment as she calculatingly started to put one person after another on the "not him" list. Blurred image or not..there was something she did notice about him that seemed off in the image. He had blue hair. Not exactly a normal choice. It would stand out here in Washington. Surely.

She kept looking around and when she did finally find a blue haired boy that matched her picture she'd walk up to him and ask if his name was Kin. If not.. damn. If so however she'd grin and say "aha I've been looking for you. My dad told me about you. My name is Kiku Kitsugi"

The woman stood in front of him in a normal shinigami robe, but under it held her battle armor. Should this be a trick by her old man to get her to train more.. she would be ready, but she'd be more pissed than anything.

I'd decided to step out, making at least some attempt to explore reaches of a land I'd not yet explored. There was a country titled "America", and within it, a great many places. So I figured at the very least, I'd start from the top and work my way down through. In a place called "Washington", I'd be a bit lost. There was so much more here than my quiet little home of Dunhill. Cars galore, buildings that even dwarfed our cliffsides, though no water in sight. As I explored, I thought much about what I'd find, snacks and desserts for one, but also perhaps some crafted items that may stir something in me. Time would pass, yet nothing really spoke to me, and I'd be surprisingly let down by the lack of material progress.

As I stood there and pondered where I'd go next, I'd be halted by a voice that I didn't recognize. A female voice, directly addressing me. The voice introduced themselves as one "Kiku Kitsugi"... It took me a few moments, but I recognized the garb she wore, not that I knew where it came from.... Though I had a guess. "Are you from a place called the Soul Society? My name is Kin Baird, I'm.... a bit lost." I bowed out of manners and habit, but hoped it didn't look out of place.

"Lost?" Kiku replied first to that despite being asked about soul society first, "Oh.. yes I am from Soul Society.. my father mentioned I should come and look for you. Though he naturally failed to tell me why.." She grumbled under her breath, "Perhaps he didn't care enough to help himself. Lazy bastard." muttering to herself about her father's lack of manners she looked back at the boy and figured she may as well attempt to be of some service if possible, "Alrighty then so you are lost. Do you know where you are going like destination wise or are you completely lost in the wilderness and have no idea which way is north."

Just then she received a phone call so she answered it with one hand real quickly, it was her Captain wondering where she had gone. Apologizing and explaining about her father and this request she snapped the phone shut and put it in her robes where it seemed to just disappear secretly hidden in a pocket on the inside. "Sorry about that."

She had been interrupted in her conversation with the guy infront of her and almost forgot where she had left off but quickly realized it a moment later, "Oh right. So. I'm going to try to help you get to where you need to be. That okay with you?"

She seemed at least like a decent person, though she seemed confused as to my plight. She did indicate however that she was indeed from the Soul Society.... not that I knew exactly what that was. Even so, she asked for a bit more detail as to how I was lost. "Well, I've been able to move around Earth freely, I've been wandering and traveling a lot since I left home, but the way that I'm actually lost... I don't quite know what I am. I'm certainly not human. And I don't know anything about this." As I said the last sentence, I nudged the sword at my side. She'd probably know something about it, since she wore the same robes as the man I got it from. Shortly after I finished asking, she seemed to get a call, and after she apologized, she put the device away, seemingly make it disappear.

As she asked again, how to get me to where I needed to be, I simply replied, "It's not so much a physical place as much an understanding. Shortly before I left home, my mother mentioned something about living in the Rukongai, and having to come to this world because I couldn't take the energy there. That I needed to be in a place with gentler magic... So that's where you come in. I picked this blade up from a man wearing the same robes you wear, though I'm sure he died... I ended up killing the thing that took his life, though I don't know why it's only this that can kill those things..." My face was clearly deep in thought, mum used to tell me she could see the gears turning in my head... and today I could feel them turning.

Kiku listened to his plight and nodded, "Yes I can certainly tell you are a spirit. Though I couldn't say you are a true blue shinigami.. you seem close enough that no one would know without being from Soul Society." when he mentioned Rukongai it clicked in her head. He "was" a shinigami. Sort of at least. Not being able to handle the reishi of Soul Society though? That didn't make sense to her. But given her own powerful background she figured that may be why.

"That Asauchi belonged to another shinigami.. we must report his loss at some point. He might have been labelled as missing. But before that.." she crossed her arms in thought for a moment, "As vice-captain of squad five I am making an executive decision here and now about you. Normally I'd have to take you to Soul Society and let them handle you.. but since I was asked to deal with this personally already.."

She shook her head, "anyways. We can do a couple of things then.. I can take you to Soul Society and see if you can handle the Reishi rich environment now that you've killed a hollow with an Asauchi and work our way from there and maybe even spar to see if your soul has imprinted on that Asauchi at all. Then report this to my Captain, or I could report this to my captain first and see what they think on the matter.."

Looking at the boy she cocked her head, "What would you prefer? That weapon is a blank waiting to be imprinted on by a soul worthy to wield it. It's not my place to question who or why to being an owner of the weapon.. I think. I feel that way anyways. You got the weapon for a reason I believe."

Uncrossing her arms she added one last thing, "If we do tell the captain, there is a high chance they'll do one of two things. Demand your return of the Asauchi and banish you, which seemed harsh and unlikely... or they will try to recruit you into the academy so you can become a real shinigami. Since you claim to have killed a hollow already you are more than qualified I think."

I stood there and listened attentively, mostly because I felt the emptiness of knowing nothing and I wished to remedy it. As she went on, she said that I was definitely a spirit, but not a full shinigami.... what the hell was a shinigami? Though as she seemed to think over it some more, she talked about the ownership of what she called an Asauchi. I took it that she meant the blade I recovered. She also seemed to note that a decision needed to be made about me. Me? Did I do something? I wasn't sure what the rank meant either, so I looked at her blankly... As she still seemed bent on speaking, I listened some more. She offered me a choice of whether to enter the Soul Society and see if my body still rejected the energy there, or to have her go back with the report solo... I thought about it some. As far as I was concerned, I had someone else I was meant to see... I'd already been offered a place to stay by Ika. I did eventually want to go back to the Soul Society, but I wasn't sure if I was ready for that.

She described the Asauchi, and told me what it was meant for in detail, saying that it's a blank meant for someone to wield until it takes on their essence. Since it's a blank, ownership wasn't the issue. She noted fate might have had a hand in me keeping it. As she cocked her head round, she seemed eager for an answer... so I gave mine. "Aye I might like to go back to the Soul Society at some point, but I dunnae think I'm ready yet. Now that I know that I carry an Asauchi, I'd like to see if it does indeed grow stronger and show me a new path. When I get to that point, I may try and go back. I'll certainly remember ye if I do. I believe at the least ye be right. I did find this for a reason."

Relaxing her stance, she said that if she did report to her captain, he might demand I give up the blade. Banish me too, which.... I'm not there anyways... but it'd be the end of my path to there. Though recruitment as a side option might not be too bad. Especially since they'd probably be able to teach me plenty. "Do tell yer captain all the details, send them me regards even. I won't be going back just yet, but depending on his response, ye might know how to find me. Let me know how it goes." I took my hand and ruffled it through my hair, a bad habit of mine when I felt nervous about something. Somehow, I felt unsure the response would be favorable. Even so, I tried to smile. She seemed like she was nice enough and genuinely so at that. So I hoped.

Kiku shrugged as he basically blew off her idea of going to Soul Society, and her offer to help him look for whatever else he was looking for, all in one go. Seemingly sounding scottish while he was at it to boot. She was asked to investigate an anomaly and investigate she did. It's a spirit with a blank. Nothing of major concern here as far as she knew. She'd know for sure when she talked to her captain and could get a real idea of the situation.

"Well I'll leave you to it then, but if things go sour I may have to bring you in later but hopefully it doesn't come to that." She said before waving at him and creating a Senkaimon to leave on her own back to Soul Society, "Stay out of trouble you hear?" and with that she disappeared. The Senkaimon with her.

She had done what was asked. Even if she didn't feel like she accomplished anything in the process. He didn't seem to want any further assistance beyond being told what his weapon was. Odd that one. Kiku shook her head as she reached her destination and started heading to her Barracks to give her report for the day. She really hoped she didn't get yelled at for letting the seemingly harmless kid go with a blank zanpaktou.

She still thought it belonged with him. Though she couldn't quite put to words as to why.
