Okay. Nothing really fancy with coding at the moment but me simply writing up my idea for a new system which would replace the current way of doing plots. So without further ado my event system.

What is the Event System?
Well, glad you asked. It works on the idea that members and staff can create and get an event approved which then can be participated in, for example a war, conflict or general plot idea. This would then be posted as a overview thread which would contain, the event itself; those involved and what threads are taking place within this event. As well as rewards and things that can be obtain for participating.

How it works?
My event system works differently to the general approach where a thread is posted and everything is happening in this one thread, that causes all kinds of problems like too many things happening at once in the thread making it hard to follow as well as making it get frozen much easier and more often. BUT with the event system you simply have the event thread and then by posting all kinds of threads which would be posted and then linked on the event thread and put in the list of events within the actual plot itself. For example:

Let's take Rukia's execution as our event, so many things are happening at once, Ichigo and co. attacks, Aizen sets his plans into motion, and conflicts are everywhere. Can you imagine the clutter that would happen in a single thread?!? So how this system works is by organising it. Instead of putting all these things in a single thread you would put all of these things in seperate threads look below for an example.

Ichigo and co. infiltrate Seireitei.
Aizen and co. set plan into motion
Ichigo vs. Renji
Ichigo trains for Bankai
Renji vs. Byakuya
Ichigo vs. Byakuya
Shunsui & Jushiro vs. Yamamoto

All of these little things would clutter and get lost in a single thread, instead imagine that all these events form threads which then take shape into the main event itself, you would link everything to the event thread itself and have a summary and set up of what happens but everything would run smoother as if one person can't post then only one thread is frozen, the others are good to keep proceeding.

Any other questions just post below and I will do my best to answer them, if anyone is having trouble getting it I can post an example thread for your benefit.

This sounds good! I have a few ideas about this too, so I am throwing them in here as I have time.

In it's nutshell, we shouldn't lean on the event-based plot entirely (don't think this will negate them entirely, I will get to your draft soon). Feels kind of stupid, that an event is the plot, while big things should affect like every thread made at that time, right? Instead, a plot should be a setting-type, where we write about what is happening right now in the universes of Bleach - so instead of huge war on a single thread, a plot would be all about how the war begins, plays out and ends. A lot of sites I've been on use this, and I totally love it.

So, for the current plot, this would mean that it starts out with tensions in Hueco Mundo rising and Soul Society allying with Espada (note that there is no events here, all plot progress happens through character development and regular threads!) and then nears it's climax as Dante attacks Karasu's castle, which would be an event of a plot, rather than a plot itself. The aftermath of the battle would cause the plot to move onto another chapter, marking the end of the arc. For canon plot, the plot itself would be the aftermath of Aizen's desertion. Introduction of arrancars, Orihime's kidnapping, Grimmjoww vs. Kurosaki, latter's training with the Visored, etc., would happen all through character development, while the Invasion of Las Noches would be a larger, longer plot event. The Battle of Karakura Town would be an event as well.

You get this right? Now I can move to the event related thing!

Okay, so we should just scrap the single thread thing and make a temporary board for all plot EVENTS (not plot itself, just the rare events), when they are ready to begin. There would be the main thread, where the main setting will be described and every participant of the plot introduces their character here at first - then, after a two to three turns at max, the main thread will branch to individual battles depending on where your character is and with whom. I think this would be really great idea to execute, but Izuna kinda put it out there already.

PLOT SYSTEM

The Plot system is a system that illustrates how plots and story lines work on Bleach Story RPG. It will be used when a plot takes place on the site and this shows how it is set up.

PRELUDE - PLOT BUILD UP

The prelude or build-up of the plot takes place when everything is leading towards the climax, this prelude often takes place with character development and all done in character. An example of the prelude is when Ichigo becomes a shinigami, he learns and develops before Rukia is taken to the Soul Society, his training with Urahara however is still prelude and it wouldn't be until he entered the Soul Society that the climax began. Preludes often take place when the plot is first announced, this lets characters develop the plot until they hit the point when the climax happens.

CLIMAX - PLOT MAIN EVENT

Upon the conclusion of the prelude it is usually followed by a climax, this leads to the actual big event itself. An example of this is like when Aizen attacked the Fake Karakura Town and everything exploded, this section will usually be a very big event divided up into multiple sections and threads due to the sheer scale of this event. Such events are usually things like wars, conflicts etc.

CONCLUSION - PLOT AFTERMATH

The conclusion comes after the climax, it is after the big event and what happens in the aftermath. This may also lead onto other plots and as such could even be considered a prelude of sorts like when Aizen fled Soul Society it lead onto the Arrancar conflict. This section tends to go on about how everything returned to normal or changed after the event itself.

EVENTS

Events are something that can be brought into a plot on occasion, it is usually done during the Climax and is used to show multiple things happening at once; usually multiple battles happening at the same time and things of that nature. The event system works by creating a main thread where all threads related to the event in general are posted and a summary is compiled. This system will not be used for the entire plot but it will often used in the climax of the plot and sometimes the prelude.

PLOT REWARDS

For those who take part in plots there will be rewards, these will be dependent on the plot in question. For example in the event of a war, you may be rewarded with "spoils of war", you might earn a free tier up or technique/ability slot if your character underwent training of some sort or got stronger in the plot. For something such as a hunt to find something the winner of the plot might receive whatever everyone was after, it is entirely dependent on the plot and the staff dishing out the rewards at the end, although better rewards might go to those who contributed most to the plot.

Add event rewards section! I think, that after a plot event, the staff should choose who proved themselves worthy of a prize (everyone actually contributed to the flow of the thread) and give them a reward - a free technique slot, a free tier-up (but not always, it's so stupid that any participant of a plot event gets an instant tier-up without doing anything, so maybe just one person could get this, ie. the participant who contributed the most) or a special item (I recall the tree of life event giving a fruit of immortality to the winner, but lol, you get the idea)!

PLOT SYSTEM

Introduction:

Welcome to the Plot System of Bleach Story! This thread exists to illustrate how plots and storylines work around here and how the staff aims to run them. While most of it's not essential for you to know, but there's some important stuff - like the rewards for events - that you might want to know.

Let's start from the most important. Our plot is crafted in the manner of a plot setting. But, what does this mean, practically? It means, that we have written the plot to act as something, that tells the players of the recent events and the state of the present day - where our plot is set, simply put. To an extent, this kind of plot doesn't reveal it's most dramatic twists, but whispers of what is to come in a very, very subtle manner. Why is not the plot just fully written out, you ask? Because nothing is yet set in stone, dear reader. True, the staff has fleshed out the events and the direction we want to drive the plot into, but the setting is largely based on the fact, that characters themselves contribute to the progress and course of plot. Players will have a large say in what happens.

Plot Structure:

The plot itself is comprised of chapters and acts, in terms of structure. A chapter can be thought as the ongoing part of the plot - chapters, in the other hand, contain two to four acts, which can be thought as the points of focus in the plot. Despite being named in a certain order, acts do not occur linearly and can be thought to happen simultaneously. The chapter is the big picture on the current setting and events, while arcs offer a closer look at what is happening and where exactly, if you want to think it this way. When all of these pieces are put together, you can see the storyline built by the chapters leading to chapters, arcs leading to arcs, events leading to events.

Each arc of a plot follows a simple, linear format, comprised of prelude, climax and conclusion. The prelude is the starting point of the arc, where everything is leading towards the climax, after which comes the conclusion, aftermath of the climax and the ending of the arc. A climax could be defined as the turning point in the story - it is usually a site-wide event and/or has the theme of a conflict, war or great battle. However, smaller events might appear on the very beginning of a plot, or on moment of "rising action", which is when the prelude nears towards climax - in the case of the latter, the minor event can be thought as a prelude to a major event. A climax is neither limited to one event. While the progress of plot between the three phases of the arc is completely up to character development and the members, staff will oversee and push the story in the right direction with twists and unexpected circumstances.

An example of this system can be found in the Bleach series itself. The very beginning, when Ichigo first becomes a shinigami, trains with Rukia, and defeats the Grand Fisher, who had killed his mother, acts as the prelude. The Ryoka Invasion, though it too can be thought as an individual arc itself, is the climax, while Aizen's desertion acts as the conclusion of the arc. After that, a new prelude follows, when Shinji recruits Ichigo to train and Orihime is kidnapped. In the Arrancar arc, which happens to be the setting of our canon plot, two significant plot events occur; the Invasion of Hueco Mundo, which is set on the "rising action" part of prelude, and finally the Battle of Karakura, the climax of the arc. As a conclusion, Ichigo loses his powers as a Shinigami and is rendered an ordinary human. Only that we know, that a conclusion will always be followed by a prelude of a new arc - that would be the Fullbringer arc in this case.

Plot Events:

As briefly mentioned before, events are a vital part of our plot system. Basically, while most of the plot is played out in character development, ie. the interaction of characters, the event is a part, where the whole site is involved and all members are challenged to set the course for what is coming next. Participation is voluntary, but considering how big of an impact the climax will leave on the story, most will likely want to have part in these events - and to further encourage you to join in, there will be rewards for participation in any plot event, which vary from event to event. After an event is announced, a separate board for it will be made, to emphasize how multiple things are happening at the same time. On this board, a main thread for the plot will be posted by staff, which acts as the summary and introduction of the event. Each participant of the plot must post here to 'introduce' themselves, but after three to four turns, the main thread is expected to branch into multiple threads. Rules, rewards and policies for the event will be posted in the introduction thread as well, and the staff will notify of 'global' plot twists, that affect everyone within the plot.

Sub-Plots:

If you're an avid reader of the Bleach manga and also watch the anime, you might notice, that some events only appear in the latter. A filler arc, that first appears in the series after the Ryoka Invasion and before Arrancar arc, is a type of sub-plot, which takes place within a small gap of time between two arcs of the main plot. Usually, this sub-plot is completely unrelated to the main plot, but it can take place simultaneously. We too have decided to take the idea of a sub-plot into our system in order to offer our members a great roleplay experience - as well as to give the staff team a small period of time between two chapters to figure out everything and discuss our long-term plans, while keeping the members busy with an exciting sub-plot. In a sense, a sub-plot can be thought as an event, rather than as actual plot - like with events, a board is created for the sub-plot, where all threads related are to be played out. A sub-plot will also heavily rely on group interaction in events, rather than on individual character development in private threads. The rules and policies will be published by staff in an information topic within the staff board, and rewards are given to all contributing participants of the sub-plot. A special in-character reward might be possible as well.

Missions:

Above, we have covered two ways of progressing the plot - individual character interaction and plot events. As a third method, we have decided to take the advancement of a faction's objectives via missions assigned to the members by their character's superiors. Each faction and group has it's own interests in the plot, and by working to advance these goals, your character will be rewarded with coins and chances at a promotion to a higher position, and your faction will be strengthened as a result. While optional, taking part in a mission is highly beneficial for you and your faction. Each faction will have a list of missions available to it's members, located on their respective headquarter pages. Despite what you might think, each mission will have some impact on the plot, so it's an indirect way of influencing how things will end up.
