Heatwave
The wolf charged, reckless as ever, and failed to dodge this final, most critical attack. A guttural cry overtook it as the armor-piercing round tore into its hierro. A shrill cry - and then Rei could feel herself falling alongside of a misty cloud of blood. What once was massive was now not.
The young man crashed into the asphalt, bouncing as he made like a hypersonic tumbleweed into the broad side of a fallen billboard. A resounding thud, and the boy groaned, staring up at the sky.
"No... that's no good." Loki coughed, blood seeping from his mouth. His resurreccion had been utterly destroyed. He had no idea who this human was -- he'd never met one so fierce before. He looked over, imprinting Rei's face into his memory one last time before he put his hand on the ground, summoning a Garganta beneath himself to enable his escape. He wouldn't die today.
Things hadn't gone well, but he had a flash of lucidity in that final moment. It was progress in controlling his released form. And maybe, perhaps, that was the true treasure of the day.
